Itinerary

Day 1: 11.5 hour flight to Kilimanjaro International Airport, Tanzania via Nairobi

Day 2:  Project Visit – Two hour transfer to Qash Village in the Arusha region of Northern Tanzania. Meet the community and see their water point, visit Endanoga Primary School and see their sanitation facilities. Transfer to Matufa village where improved household sanitation has been implemented.

Day 3: Sign in at the National Park Gate set deep in the cloud forest that surrounds Mount Kilimanjaro for the start of the Challenge. A gradual ascent through the thick cloud forest from Machame Gate at 1800m to Machame Hut at 2980m.

Day 4: A steep ascent from Machame Hut along the Machame ridge line to the Shira Plateau then onto the Shira Hut at 3,840m.

Day 5: Heading east across the plateau on a gradual incline from Shira Hut ascending over Shira Plateau to an altitude of 4,400m, providing valuable acclimatisation, then descending down to the Baranco Campsite, set at the base of the Baranco Wall at 3,950m.

Day 6: Heading east up the Baranco Wall, a height gain of 700ft, continuing very slowly over the ridges and valleys to the Karanga Valley. Followed by an acclimatisation trek towards Barafu Camp – returning back to Karanga.

Day7: A very slow and steady ascent towards Barafu Camp from Karanga Valley, followed by an acclimatization trek up to Kosovo Point.

Day 8: The Summit An extremely slow ascent across the scree slopes towards Stella Point for sun-rise followed by a gentle ascent to Uhuru Peak: The Roof of Africa. Then descending back to Stella Point, then Barafu Camp and continuing down to Mweka Hut. 

Day 9: Descend down to Mweka Gate from Mweka Hut, a gradual decline through the heath and cloud forest. At Mweka Gate sign-out of the National Park and transfer back to Moshi hotel for a well earned shower!

Day 10: Transfers
